- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic educational environment.
- Commitment to cultural competence, diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of service delivery.
- Knowledge of special education laws and regulations governing the provision of physical therapy services in schools (e.g., IDEA, ADA).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, educators, and other professionals.
- Experience working with pediatric populations, preferably in a school or pediatric clinic setting.
- Certification in School Physical Therapy (optional, but preferred).
- Current state license or eligibility for licensure as a Physical Therapist.
- Master's degree or Doctorate in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of therapy sessions, progress reports, and relevant communication with stakeholders.
- Provide guidance and support to teachers and staff on techniques and strategies to promote students' motor development and physical well-being in the classroom environment.
- Monitor students' progress regularly and adjust intervention strategies as needed to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Collaborate closely with educators, parents, and other members of the multidisciplinary team to integrate therapy goals into the students' educational plans.
- Provide direct physical therapy services to students in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) or 504 plans.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to address students' motor skills, mobility, strength, and coordination challenges.
- Conduct thorough assessments to evaluate students' physical abilities, limitations, and needs.
